Direct Air Capture
Solution:
CO₂ capture collectors drawn air into the collector with a fan. Carbon dioxide is captured on the surface of a highly selective filter material that sits inside the collectors. After the filter material is full with CO₂, the collector is closed and the temperature increased - this releases the carbon dioxide. Finally, this high-purity CO₂ is collected.
IMPACT:
The large-scale deployment of Direct Air Capture is expected to have a significant effect on the optimal CO₂ mitigation path. The deployment of Direct Air Capture would result in removing nearly 0.5–1.5 gigatons of carbon dioxide per year in the year 2055. Source: Frontiers.
